Overview:

This Cathodic Protection Technician position will be located in Woodhaven, MI. This position works in and around petroleum products and crude oil facilities executing various corrosion management tasks. The successful candidate will perform such duties as: collect and analyze corrosion control data; assure accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory compliance; maintain all equipment utilized for the application of cathodic protection; perform cathodic protection interference testing.  Travel, call-outs, and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis. The Corrosion Management department of Marathon Pipe Line LLC tests and maintains cathodic protection systems for more than 6000 miles of underground pipeline, 73 terminals, and  five refineries.  The successful candidate is required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze corrosion control data via hand held data loggers.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as locating and repairing cathodic protection cable breaks, troubleshooting and repairing test stations, rectifiers, RMUs (remote monitoring units), and bonds, and commissioning or adjusting cathodic protection systems to ensure properly balanced application of cathodic protection.
  • Assure compliance with all regulations in support of PHMSA and other regulatory inspections.
  • Perform cathodic protection interference testing.
  • Analyze and communicate cathodic protection data to the appropriate corrosion specialists and process leaders.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory requirements.

     

     

     

    Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • NACE CP I (Cathodic Protection Tester) certification required.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in the corrosion field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Previous pipeline experience is a plus.
