SUMMARY:   This position is responsible for leading and/or assisting with development and implementation of safety programs and processes.  This includes organizing or participating on standard development teams, developing training for new programs, facilitating implementation of new standards, and verifying effective implementation in the field.



  • Leads and/or participates in the development of new standards to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Implements safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.  Administers safe work programs and practices, such as, but not limited to: energy isolation (lock out / tag out), personal protective equipment (PPE) use, hot work, confined space entry, fall protection, and permit to work.
  • Collaborates with Change Enablement Leads on effective implementation strategies of new standards.
  • Coordinates audits and assessments of G&P assets and programs to ensure alignment and success of OEMS.
  • Participates in workplace assessments to ensure consistent implementation and application of G&P standards.  Compiles, analyses and interprets information derived from workplace assessments, such as permit to work /job safety analysis audits, field safety audits, and safety observations. 
  • Prepares and submits timely and substantively complete regulatory reports, documentation and similar documents.  Maintains current, accurate and complete records.
  • Facilitates the development of monthly communications by coordinating with various representatives from across G&P.
  • Conducts incident investigations and initiates corrective actions to address root cause(s) and reduce risk of recurrence.  Assists with regulatory inspections or investigations. 
  • Supports engagement and communication programs to foster "incident-free workplace" culture, build awareness of safety core values.  Serves as role model and champion for safety.
  • Develops health, environmental and safety information, manuals, training material and programs; informs employees of related policies and procedures; conducts appropriate training sessions.
  • Maintains sufficient professional expertise and proficiency in discipline to achieve Company expectations and perform technical assignments.



Bachelor’s degree in safety field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.  Three or more years of relevant experience required.

  • Must work well within a team environment and be able to lead a team through the development and implementation of new programs and/or processes.
  • Must possess knowledge of safety metrics, root cause analysis, excavation safety, confined space entry, fall protection requirements, energy isolation, hot work, hazard communication, mobile equipment and mobile crane safety.
  • Must have the ability to prepare safety related reports and other types of documentation in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Ability to incorporate different training methods based on the audience and capability to speak in front of large groups.
  • Must be able to properly analyze process safety related information and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must be proficient in conducting onsite assessments and evaluations as they relate to safety and process safety management items.
  • Must have excellent time and project management skills and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Communication Skills:  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Job will require public speaking engagements and significant report writing. 
  • Computer Skills:  Must have exceptional computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook.   A working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint systems is also required.   Familiarity with safety related software management systems a plus.




  • Must have a general understanding of the natural gas processing and gathering business. Must be able to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential and privileged information.
  • Must be a self-starter who communicates well with plant personnel, management, public, regulatory agencies, and customers.
  • Provide assistance to facilities / areas when needed.
  • This position has high visibility.  Individual must possess excellent leadership type qualities and a previous track record of safety success.
