POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to Director – Gas & Liquid Measurement. In general, is responsible for overseeing and leading work of company staff and contractors; responsible for all operations and technical activities related to product quality functions at lab facilitates; monitors lab operational activities to ensure compliance to applicable industry standards and MarkWest adopted policies, standards and processes; ensures effective communication and coordinating between plant operations and lab activities. This position will provide technical support, leadership and oversight for product quality determination at lab facilities


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Leads and develops employees to meet organizational expectations for productivity, quality and goal accomplishment.
• Communicate organization information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings and appropriate email, IM, and regular interpersonal communications.
• Manage the overall laboratory operations to ensure accurate, timely data for product quality.
• Manage and plan expense and capital budgets to effectively meet productivity and quality.
• Technical subject matter expert on product analytical methods, specifications, and equipment by keeping up to date with changing technology and new developments in the chemical field.
• Plan, evaluate, and improve processes, procedures and controls to enhance quality, efficiency, and output of laboratory facilities
• Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with company, industry and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Establish and maintain controls to monitor the operation of the labs. Ensure the health and safety of lab personnel by planning, implementing, monitor and maintain rocesses and controls to ensure state, federal, company and industry standards are followed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
• Manages, directs, oversees and supports personnel directly related to the laboratory facilities and operations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree in relevant Science or Engineering from a 4 year accredited college or university preferred, with 5-10 years of experience in hydrocarbon analytical product quality.
• Must demonstrate effective leadership, management and people skills and experience.
• Proficient at managing budgets and multiple projects.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of industry standards, analytical equipment and software systems.
• Deal with ambiguity; shift gears and comfortable coping with change.
• Demonstrated ability to: set priorities; spend time on what is important, eliminate roadblocks; create focus.
• Display strong, well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Must have developed language skills to:
• Write reports, summaries, policies, procedures and memos using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of punctuation, spelling and grammar
• Speak with poise and confidence using correct English and a well-modulated voice
• Must be a team player and encourage collaboration within the group for both educational and problem solving purposes. Informing at the appropriate level of detail so those employees receive the information needed to do their jobs. Gains the trust and support of his/her peers. Ability to work at all levels from field to executive.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands: Requires sitting throughout most of the day, interspersed with travel to field locations, construction sites, or other company offices as needed. Walking on uneven terrain is often required during normal work duties.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions, which could range from extreme cold to hot, humid conditions. At times proper PPE must be used in work areas.

Materials and Equipment Used: Personal computer, smart cellular phone, office printers with fax, copier, and email capabilities.
