Overview: Marathon Petroleum Company LP, a major petroleum refiner and marketer, is accepting resumes for a Technician Intern position in the multiple locations. This internship will be between June- September. This position works with and around petroleum products and is responsible for all operating aspects of a petroleum products terminal. This position will be assigned to a home terminal, but the successful candidate will be expected to cover work at other terminals in the region as required to meet business needs. Occasional overnight travel , call-outs, and overtime will be required, which will include after business hours and on weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

      1. Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of a truck loading rack and other facility equipment.

      2. Sampling and laboratory testing of petroleum products.

      3. Storage tank gauging.

      4. Handling the shipment and receipt of petroleum products via pipeline and/or barge/ship.

      5. Stair climbing, lifting 50- 100 pounds, and often working outdoors.

      6. Preparation of various terminal reports.

      7. Completion of all required training.

      8. Other varied work assignments.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED is required.

Must be enrolled or a recent graduate of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in a related mechanical, electrical, process technology or business supply chain program.

Must be open to relocation for full time position.

Proficiency in basic computer skills is required.

Proficiency in math and ability to maintain accurate records are required.

Qualified candidates must be motivated, self-starters, able to work independently, and possess an excellent work record with references. Candidates must also be very dependable and be willing to work a flexible schedule as necessary.

A working knowledge of and previous experience with mechanical and electrical systems is preferred.
