This position can be seated in San Antonio, TX OR Findlay, OH.  Relocation is offered for this position, per mileage requirements.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 This Advanced Analyst/Senior Analyst will be strategically positioned within the partnership compliance team to learn and develop into a partnership tax matters subject expert. The qualified person will also have the opportunity to grow into the role of coordinating and supervising the federal income tax compliance efforts among the analysts and the outside accounting firms.  Assisting with tax planning strategies and opportunities, both internally and externally, including modeling of scenarios and use of data analysis tools such as Alteryx.  Previous experience in federal income tax compliance and/or consulting for U.S. partnerships (known as SubChapter K) and/or MLPs, is required, will position the Analyst/Senior Analyst to learn and develop at an accelerated rate.  Previous experience with and ability to utilize general knowledge of certain unique partnership rules is required.  These include determinations of Internal Revenue Code 734 and 743 adjustments, familiarity with section 704(c) allocation processes in general and partnership capital account rules under section 704(b).  The successful candidate will be able to articulate their experiences in these critical knowledge areas.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of and assist with the review of the annual Form 1065 Schedule K-1s and using CorpTax to prepare federal partnership income tax returns
  • Preparation of tax basis balance sheets for partnership entities
  • Analysis and preparation of book income to taxable income calculations needed for the quarterly provisions, year-end, and forecasting or taxable income
  • Research and documentation of critical partnership income tax issues, and tax return position support
  • Participate in business development projects including ability to assist with Excel and Alteryx modeling of various scenarios

 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • MAcc, MST, MBA degree a significant plus
  • CPA or CPA candidate-eligible required, CPA required for management roles
  • 7+ years minimum relevant tax experience in domestic partnership income tax compliance, tax consulting, and/or planning experience in Big 4, upper tier middle market accounting firms, and/or at large publicly traded entities)
  • Previous SAP or Oracle experience a plus.  Experience with a Master Limited Partnership (MLP) a plus

 

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required
  • Experience with Alteryx a plus
  • Experience with general ledger accounting systems (SAP, Oracle) including fixed assets and CorpTax preferred
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to thrive in a very collaborative working environment
  • Ability to research and document tax issues
