 POSITION SUMMARY:

The IT Architect will lead a cross-functional workgroup within the MPC Midstream IT Solution Delivery organization specifically charged with the formulation and adoption of architectural standards for software development within the organization.  Areas to be considered for standardization include code management, unit testing, design patterns, build and deployment automation, deployment topologies, and code standards.  Of particular importance will be architectural transition planning and the execution of that plan.  Demonstrable experience architecting large enterprise systems, particularly those consisting of many disparate components, as well as sound knowledge of current .NET-relevant solution design and architectural trends are both strongly preferred.  Strong interpersonal skills (written and verbal) and refined presentation skills suitable for both executive and individual contributor audiences are required and will be leveraged in pursuit of architectural consensus and decision socialization. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaboratively define, document, implement, and assess consistent software architectural conventions, designs, and patterns for use within the MPC Midstream IT Solution Delivery organization
  • Establish and maintain a current, accurate inventory of applications and interfaces built and/or maintained by the MPC Midstream IT Solution Delivery organization
  • Establish and maintain a current, accurate inventory of data flows across all applications and interfaces built and/or maintained by the MPC Midstream IT Solution Delivery organization
  • Establish and maintain a current, accurate inventory of solution designs and architectures across all applications and interfaces built and/or maintained by the MPC Midstream IT Solution Delivery organization
  • Assess the compatibility and integration of cyber and infrastructure initiatives proposed as standards to ensure compatibility with modern software architectures and developer practices
  • Collaborate with others, as an escalated level of support, to resolve major underlying architectural issues which arise within a project or a product as needed. Identify opportunities to make significant changes in the solution design and/or implementation to eliminate outages, reduce rework, improve process and execution efficiencies, and improve communication with the organization
  • Work with other architects, including CI/OT and Enterprise Architects, to perform market and solution assessment to assess and potentially adopt new or enhanced technical capabilities
  • Decompose business strategies and initiatives into actionable multi-year architectural roadmaps, providing clear direction on execution to ensure a high return on investment. Research, identify and recommend industry best practices for solving business and technology problems
  • Model the enterprise-wide business and technology capabilities to analyze the alignment of business strategies and capabilities with technology strategy and solutions
  • Perform special projects and other duties as required
  • Provide updates weekly, monthly, or as requested
  • Support the corporate culture by personal involvement in activities to enhance performance in Health, Environment, Safety & Corporate Social Responsibility

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related fields, or equivalent experience
  • Five or more years of diversified information technology experience, including a minimum of four years of experience with information systems (IT) architecture required

 

SKILLS:  

  • .NET development
  • .NET-relevant solution design
  • Experience designing and building large enterprise systems, leveraging modern design patterns, such as service buses, microservices, and dependency injection
  • Leadership skills such as facilitating discussions and generating consensus
  • Relationship building skills (particularly with respect to other architects throughout the enterprise) 
  • Familiarity with Azure as an application development platform and solution design paradigm, particularly with respect to data integrations, is a plus
