Reports to the Engineering Manager. This position requires an experienced and skilled individual in key areas of large midstream capital projects. The position is intended to be focused on the development and execution of large plant, pipeline, and compression station projects.



Must be able to manage projects of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to startup, primarily processing plant projects. The successful candidate will be required to prepare detailed cost estimates in consultation with facility and process engineers throughout the department. The position requires skill at selecting contracting strategies to optimize capital spending, preparing requests for proposals, reviewing proposals, and maintaining a disciplined approach to the bidding process. The project manager position will be required to provide weekly schedule and cost updates, ensure proper tracking of labor costs and purchase order spending, and understand current project exposure through issued purchase orders. The successful candidate must maintain knowledge and ability to apply engineering standards as they relate to the specific project. Must be able to handle assignments and projects with minimal supervision and complete within acceptable time standards. Must be capable of providing equipment specifications per MarkWest standards and order appropriate materials for projects. Must have broad knowledge of natural gas processing and operations. Travel is required up to 50 percent to plant sites or fabrication sites, especially during plant startup.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: This position requires a degree in Engineering from a 4-year accredited college or university. 10 years of industry experience desired, with 5 years of project management experience desired.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current valid driver’s license required. A Professional Engineering License is desirable. Project Management Professional certification is preferred.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of individuals/employees.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is located in an office environment. Travel to field locations or fabrication sites will be required (up to 50 percent).
