Reports to the Engineering Manager. This position requires an experienced and skilled
individual in key areas of process safety management, operations support, maintenance projects, and process monitoring. The position is intended to be focused on the ongoing needs of plants throughout their life cycles.


The successful candidate must be able to manage a team of engineers with varying degrees of experience across the region as well as develop a similar approach to maintaining PSM facilities with his or her counterparts across the company. This position is expected to help the business unit comply with good engineering practices (and internal company practices) but also ensure consistent reporting to senior management about problems encountered or new unforeseen hazards.

Additionally, the successful candidate will work with his or group to develop cost estimates for compliance with PSM or audit action items, track and report progress on responses to identified hazards, and assist operations in completion of budgets for successive budget cycles. The candidate must be able to handle assignments and projects with minimal supervision and complete within acceptable time standards.

The candidate must be capable of providing equipment specifications per MarkWest standards and order appropriate materials for projects. Knowledge of natural gas processing and operations is desired. Travel is required up to 50 percent to plant sites or fabrication sites, especially during plant startups or turnarounds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: This position requires a degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a 4-year accredited college or university. 10 years of industry experience required in PSM-covered facilities is desired. Some small capital project experience (<$5MM) is desired.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current valid driver’s license required.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to
communicate effectively with all levels of individuals/employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is located in an office environment. Travel to field locations or
fabrication sites will be required (up to 50 percent).
