General Description:

We are seeking a detail oriented, self-motivated, and mechanically inclined technician with the ability to balance project priorities. The Environment Technician is responsible for many “hands on” operations in the Environmental Department. Primary job responsibilities include managing and coordinating compliance source test preparation and performance, procedure and systems development, collect routine samples and conduct training of contractors used to collect samples under various compliance programs (ex. LDAR, BWON Wastewater, etc.). Conduct periodic internal inspections to assess the state of environmental compliance. Prepare and submit sampling results.   Candidates must have excellent reading comprehension and communication skills in order to understand work-related documents.

 

Job Duties 

  • Lead the planning, setup, and performance of source testing/sampling. Coordinating between contractor and operations prior to testing.
  • Develop systems for coordination between Operations and Environmental Departments on triggers for source testing and compliance tracking
  • Assist with field sampling and reporting (various programs)
  • Participate in internal and external inspections
  • Monitor work practices to ensure that compliance is met
  • Inspect records for compliance
  • Provide support for Emergency Response field efforts
  • Coordinate and manage project field tasks
  • Prepare and maintain necessary reports and records as required

 

Core competencies

  • A.S. degree in Science or Chemical Technology desired, but not required. Specific training in performing RATA or CGA testing preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer skills and software programs that support the operation, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other specialty programs.
  • Other skills required, include listening, speaking and writing skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
