Overview:

The HES Professional supports the environmental compliance efforts of the Galveston Bay Refinery by providing technical guidance on regulatory programs that affect the refinery's operations. This position will involve assignments in waste compliance and reduction activities (although water and air assignments are possible as well). The HES Professional will function as a team member within the refinery's environmental group and as a member of one of the refinery's production teams.  Knowledge of all aspects of waste including sampling, profiling, manifesting, contractor oversight, and environmental compliance are necessary.  Cost reduction focus is required for continual improvement of this program.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement continual improvements for the Waste Program. 
  • Determine and implement cost savings ideas for the Waste Program.
  • Develop and implement new or existing environmental compliance programs in conformance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Design and implementation of environmental protection systems to support and facilitate refinery and department goals.
  • Develop and manage programs to meet regulatory requirements including data collection and record keeping for the purpose of demonstrating compliance.
  • Works with Area Teams to oversee and troubleshoot the day to day operation of the refinery in conformance with all applicable regulations.
  • While communicating and developing relations with public, agency and community contacts.
  • Performs other special projects in the department as necessary.
  • Assist in emergency response notifications to environmental agencies.

     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Required - Engineering is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of environmental engineering experience 
  • RCRA experience is preferred 
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations and refinery operations is desirable
