POSITION OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for safe operations and regular daily functions to operate a light petroleum products terminal. The position holder performs periodic measurements to assure accurate stock volumes are tracked and recorded.  The holder of this position must coordinate and work with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to assure compliance and a safe working environment via open dialog, training, and collaboration.  Must be able and available to work after hours on call for customer care and fuel receipts.

 KEY RESULT AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Terminal Operations

  • Maintain and/oversee maintenance of the terminal facility, including the truck rack, truck/rail off-loading area, tank farm, secondary containment systems, additive tanks, warehouse and office. 
  • Perform tank level gauging via electronic and manual methods
  • Account for terminal product inventories.
  • Interact with customers to assist in receipt and loading of petroleum products
  • Quality testing of products
  • General office duties.
  • Truck and rail car off loading

 Safety Assurance

  • Periodically inspect terminal and rail facility to assure safe working conditions, communicate any safety concerns
  • Explain and convey safety plans and procedures to visitors, vendors, agency officials, customers, and Tesoro employees from other facilities
  • Interact with local emergency response officials, property owners, and local Fire Departments
  • Review and maintain knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Maintain current Health & Safety training.
  • Help assure that the facility is secure at all times.

 Sustainability Assurance and Emergency Response

  • Prevent and minimize emissions and waste generation by inspections, observations and proper maintenance.
  • Manage hazardous waste, as generated, in compliance with all regulations.
  • Alert all appropriate individuals – inside and outside the Company – of any emergency situation as provided in Emergency Response Plans, Facility Contingency Plans, or Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures Plans (SPCC). 
  • Perform inspections for environmental compliance as directed.
  • Maintain current environmental regulatory training.
  • Cooperate and assist with third party environmental compliance audits as deemed necessary by the Company.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum:  High School Degree, or equivalent experience required
  • Desired: Hazwoper training or familiarity with working with hazardous materials and/or petroleum products
  • Basic working knowledge of computer based programs, i.e. Word, Excel, etc. 
  • Minimum: two years of prior experience with single employer, demonstrating dependability in the work environment. Mechanical/maintenance back ground.

 SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, contractors, vendors, and customers 
  • Knowledge of standard word processing and spreadsheet computer software. Knowledge of intranet and internet navigation.
  • Strong problem solving, organization, and deductive reasoning skills. 
  • Self-motivated and self-managing.
  • Willing and able to work extended and rotating on call shifts
