Marathon Petroleum Company LP, a major petroleum refiner and marketer, is seeking a Fire Chief Security Supervisor for its St. Paul Park Refinery.  The position reports to the ES&S Manager and is responsible for the establishment of comprehensive fire prevention, emergency response, and security programs. 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the emergency response organization for the facility.
  2. Manage the security services contract.
  3. Maintain emergency response and security plans and conduct periodic drills.
  4. Manage the physical security systems, badging/access, and Emergency Notification System.
  5. Coordinate onsite response to incidents.
  6. Maintain a mechanical integrity inspection and maintenance program for emergency response equipment.
  7. Maintain a structured training program for the emergency response team (ERT) to enable members to progressively achieve increased levels of competence as defined under NFPA.
  8. Develop and implement emergency response and security policies and procedures.   
  9. Coordinate development and compliance of regulatory required facility security plans to comply with DHS and DOT standards. 
  10. Conduct fire safety and security inspections and take actions to address areas of concern.
  11. Coordinate with local response organizations, local fire and police agencies, and local municipalities to achieve and maintain strong business relationships.
  12. Interacts, develops and maintains close liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement, emergency response organizations and industry professionals to further MPC’s emergency response and security programs.
  13. Monitor the effectiveness of security and emergency response equipment and systems and determine need for maintenance and upgrades. 
  14. Develop and manage emergency response and security capital and expense budgets. 

 

Minimum qualifications include the following:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5 years firefighting or security/law enforcement experience
  • 2 years’ experience as a Fire or Security/Law Enforcement Officer
  • 3 years’ experience in military, refining, petrochemical, or LNG industry

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Familiar with incident command system (ICS) response structure
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Planning and organizing skills to support coordinating schedules, training, and equipment maintenance
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience and/or comfort with presenting training material in both hands on and classroom settings
