POSITION SUMMARY:

The PTP Solution Architect is accountable for designing solutions for SAP S/4HANA Procure-to-Pay (PTP) processes at Marathon Petroleum Company. (SAP S/4HANA is a state-of-the-art suite of business software technologies that enable sophisticated organizations to conduct enterprise resource planning (ERP) to manage day-to-day business activities, such as accounting, procurement, project management, risk management and compliance, and supply chain operations. PTP processes comprise a portion of S/4HANA ERP capabilities and coordinate various business functions including requisitioning, purchasing, receiving, paying for, and accounting for goods and services.)

 

The incumbent is required to be a subject matter expert in specialized PTP functions in the oil and gas industry to support particularized procurement processes for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) goods and services in (a) refinery routine-maintenance operations, (b) for capital projects planning and execution, and (c) for other critical and expensive refinery projects including turnarounds, shutdowns, and equipment overhauls. The PTP Solution Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of specialized PTP processes using various SAP modules and building integration among modules using middleware applications. The incumbent serves as liaison among business partners and other stakeholders to effectively analyze, communicate, and validate functional and system requirements for changes to business process and systems. As the domain expert for the company’s PTP process solution, including the SAP Material Management (MM) module supporting procurement and inventory functions, the incumbent serves as the conduit between business process and technology.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides advisory recommendations and consultation on SAP standard features alignment and usage.

 

  • Delivers innovative solutions that will increase the company’s operational agility and enable continued growth while supporting ongoing project activities.

 

  • Researches and develops new solutions leveraging the SAP S/4HANA ERP platform in support of the company’s global information-technology (IT) strategy.

 

  • Evaluates and assesses existing and new technologies to prepare a strong technology roadmap aligning with the business and IT.

 

  • Creates technology solutions considering infrastructure (network, servers, printers, mobile devices, and databases), security requirements (for users, systems, and network), and applications (SAP and Non-SAP) and supports the implementation of selected solutions.

 

  • Leads cross-functional initiatives and applies Lean Six Sigma practices, ITIL (formerly the IT Infrastructure Library) processes, and other project-delivery methodologies to design and deliver efficient solutions for the business.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or IT-related engineering field
  • At least 2 full lifecyrlce implementations of SAP S/4HANA Procure to Pay applications in oil-and-gas industry setting 
  • At least 8 years of IT solution architect experience to include gathering and validating business requirements, conducting gap analysis, and developing solutions or integration approaches required to implement SAP technologies.

  • At least 8 years of experience (inclusive) configuring the SAP Procure-to-Pay (PTP) applications—including SAP Material Management (MM)—and integrating with both of the following components:

    • SAP Plan for Reliability and SAP Finance/Controlling (FICO).

    • At least 5 years of experience (inclusive) integrating software platforms via SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) and SAP Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP).

  • At least 2 years of experience (inclusive) configuring and integrating Track contract-cost-control software and Lenel access-control software with SAP S/4HANA and SAP Fieldglass with S/4HANA.
