Serving within the business, this role provides Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technical and process support for the Logistics business unit. Recommends appropriate strategies and data workflows in support of Logistics customers. Works closely with the GIS Operations team to develop efficient processes for data validation, data collection and data flow improvements. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Data integrations into our GIS system
  • Execute process management tasks for GIS
  • Implement and manage GIS solutions
  • Manage the GIS Database architecture
  • Serve as a technical resource for other GIS staff
  • Serve as a project manager for GIS activities



  • Develop, implement and maintain GIS data, applications, tools and the organizational database environment
  • Work with the GIS Operations staff to identify internal customer’s needs for the development, configuration, testing, implementation and/or maintenance of GIS applications, tools, web services and related backend processing modules
  • Work with internal customers to define and coordinate data management and workflow processes to develop and implement GIS solutions
  • Incorporate GIS data from various sources and in various formats into the enterprise GIS system
  • Understand strategic value of data and develop processes to improve efficiencies and data quality practices
  • Manage mapping and data distribution methods that allow the business to leverage GIS
  • Implement and manage workflow processes to ensure that GIS system is updated timely, accurately and complete
  • Evaluate new GIS and data management technologies and solutions to assess their compatibility with Logistics needs
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the enterprise GIS architecture and solutions
  • Participate in developing GIS policies, standards and procedures
  • Provide GIS related technical expertise and training to the business unit

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field required OR 6 years of directly related experience, Geographical Information Systems preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in GIS required.


Preferred skills

  • ESRI ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Web Adapter
  • Enterprise ArcSDE databases (Oracle preferred)
  • Experience with FME, Geocortex, DeLorme Xmap, CartoPac, and New Century Software preferred.
  • PODS database experience (4.02 preferred)
  • Use of personal computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite
  • ESRI GIS software,10.0+ and Pro highly preferred
  • Javascript/JSON
  • PL/SQL language
  • ArcPy/Python
  • Experience in the development or configuration of mobile GIS data solutions on one or more platforms (e.g. Trimble, ESRI, CartoPac)
  • Experience working with vendors to implement new solutions or configurations



  • Relating interpersonally with field operators, engineers, office administrators, and management
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy, detail, and productivity in all aspects of work
  • Systematically organizing large amounts of data, files, and information
