RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Develops and executes basic to moderately complex voyage orders and cargo stowage for term and voyage-chartered vessels in accordance with the plan generated by the Optimization and Cargo Scheduling groups.  Addresses plan changes and provides guidance across the enterprise, filters appropriate information to the vessels for voyage planning.
  2. Communicates with vessels ensuring reporting requirements, cargo documentation, and agency appointment / nominations are followed.               
  3. Manages voyage/term-chartered vessels, ensuring safe and efficient operations. Responsible for timely reporting of incidents and management of communications between stakeholders.
  4. Responsible for all aspects of voyage management ensuring the charter party and commodities contract is followed. Works with Chartering, Post Fixture Claims throughout the voyage from start to completion.
  5. Responsible for planning and preparation of cargo tanks per Tesoro Tank Cleaning Matrix or internationally agreed standards i.e. Shell Tank Cleaning Guide.
  6. Maintains close working relationship with international and US flag owners, ship brokers, and agents.
  7. Plans and purchases bunker fuel for the Company’s term-chartered vessels liaising with the vessels and bunker broker to optimize cost and quantity per the vessel schedule, minimizing delays that impact voyage economics.
  8. Reviews and approves freight invoices and term charter hire invoices per the charter party.
  9. Ensures compliance with the charter party warranties for speed, fuel consumption, and load/discharge operations.
  10. Files and inputs voyage data and scheduling into IMOS and other voyage management software.
  11. Collaborates with Singapore office in scheduling and managing chartered tankers while in the Americas/West of Suez.
  12. Reviews charter party and vendor service contracts for legal, contractual and financial obligations.
  13. Manages the PnL for out chartered vessels.
  14. Provides analytics on routing, specific port operating limits, port costs, operations during pre and post fixture operations.  Ability to identify potential savings or impacts to the voyage and communicates with all necessary stakeholders proactively.  Provides guidance as subject matter expert on waterborne projects on an ad hoc basis.   

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

For all Professional (P) Levels, the following education is required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a maritime academy or related field

 

In addition to education, as defined by P Level, the following experience is required:

 Professional Level 2 (P2)

Professional Level 3 (P3)

  • 5 or more years of commercial marine operations, chartering, or vessel agent experience

Professional Level 4 (P4)

  • 7 or more years of commercial marine operations, chartering, or vessel agent experience

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to make risk-based and well-reasoned decisions with uncertain information and in the face of material financial risk and operational stress.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as sound approach for stakeholder management.
