POSITION SUMMARY:

The Board Operator will provide constant monitoring of instrument control panel and adjusts controls to regulate process variables (e.g., pressures, flow rates, temperatures, fluid levels) as necessary to maintain purity and operating efficiency within design operating parameters. Will monitor gauges, inspects product, troubleshoots as needed, and handles routine maintenance.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides constant monitoring of instrument control panel and adjusts controls to regulate process variables (e.g., pressures, flow rates, temperatures, fluid levels) as necessary to maintain purity and operating efficiency within design operating parameters
  • Oversees, reads, and maintains equipment controlling temperature and flow of product
  • Monitors gauges, inspects product, troubleshoots as needed, and handles routine maintenance
  • Records data from equipment readings
  • Upon qualification, issues and monitors safe work permits
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of Gas Plant Operator job
  • Operates within regulations of Process Safety Management (PSM) and environment permit requirements
  • Must meet Board Operator I qualifications within 18 months, through MPC certification program

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2+ Years Gas Plant or related field experience
  • Must hold a valid Driver License and meet company insurability requirements
  • Must be able to complete Health Questionnaire and pass drug test and background check
  • Must be able to work rotating shift 14 days on and 14 days off, 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. If needed company housing is provided

  • Operation & Control: Understanding of how process controls and automation are used to operate equipment in process plant.
  • Operation Monitoring: Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Quality Control Analysis: Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Safety Applies in difficult or complex situations, ability to recognize safety risks in operational activities and use appropriate measures to control and manage identified risks.
  • Safety Awareness: Ability to recognize and identify potential hazards. Evaluates changes in work environment with respect to impact on safety of self and others. Understands potential threats created by deviation from safety procedures and improper use of tools and equipment. Uses personal protection equipment. Uses tools and equipment in compliance with manuals and training. Calls attention to potential and actual hazardous conditions as they arise. Demonstrates knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures. Stops work if there are unsafe working conditions.
  • Systems Analysis Develops ability to determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Seeing:  Must be able to see to use hand and/or power tools.
  • Hearing:  Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers.
  • Talking:  Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of spoken words.
  • Sitting:  Must be able to sit for limited periods of time.
  • Standing/Walking/Mobility:  Must be able to stand use hand and/or power tools.  Must maintain mobility to perform duties inside and outside of buildings. Major portions of the day may require this activity.
  • Bending/Reaching/Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling:  Must be able to bend, reach, or stoop to use hand and/or power tools. Major portions of the day require this activity.
  • Ability to read and understand technical instructions and procedures manuals.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT drug screen
  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing:  Heavy physical effort up to 75 pounds and climb heights up to 60 feet, for portions of the day.
  • Manual Dexterity:  Major portions of daily work require application of manual skills involving motor coordination and finger dexterity.
