The Operations Supervisor leads a team of personnel in the operation of the 24 hour, 365 day Mid-South Area pipeline and storage facilities. This position will be based out of Marathon Pipe Line’s (MPL) Mid-South Area office in Nesbit, MS.  The Operations Supervisor provides direct supervision and leadership for the hourly Operations Technicians. The work is very diverse and includes supervisory activities involving the operations of pipeline systems for safe and efficient transportation services. These activities range from scheduling day-to-day personnel work activities, educating the public, taking care of customer needs, protecting assets on the right of way, participating in project review, ensuring regulatory compliance and emergency response. Training and development of the work group are a significant part of the responsibilities of this position. The position also requires the commitment to a Structured Safety Process, support of various Marathon Pipe Line processes, encouraging continuous improvement and managing risk for incident prevention. The incumbent will be required to live within 45 minutes of the Mid-South Area office.



1. Supervises and directs the day-to-day Mid-South Area pipeline Operations Technicians to safely execute pipeline movements and protection of assets through station operations, line crossings and one-call response activities. 

 2. Ensures that day-to-day operations supports the field execution of the Public Impact and Damage Prevention Processes and other functions involved at the Mid-South Area.

 3. Maintains practical knowledge of technological aspects of all phases of field operations and damage prevention and implements approved measures to increase efficiency and meet developing needs.

 4. Receives guidance from the Region Operations Superintendent in an effort to execute processes in a consistent fashion.

 5. Partner with Mid-South Area Leadership to train and develop employees within the Area.

 6. Support Environmental, Safety and Regulatory Department (ES&R) initiatives.



Degree: Preferred, but not required

Years’ Experience: 3-5 years pipeline engineering experience, or 5+ years of pipeline operation experience preferred.
