SUMMARY

Evaluates compliance with federal/state/local statutes and regulations. Collects samples and data; conducts analysis in support of applicable environmental regulation. Prepares and distributes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. The position will focus on the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental systems including: Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Program – Manage the GHG reporting requirements and work with corporate staff as required to manage GHG allowances. Work Instructions – Develop drafts of work instructions to meet new regulatory requirements and to fill in gaps for existing work practices needed to meet regulatory obligations and Marathon requirements. Potable Water – Develop PFOS/PFOA potable water program as regulations develop. Environmental Audits – Develop and implement the MPC tiered auditing program within a tracking database that tracks any findings to completion. Ongoing Training Requirements – Coordinate with the onsite training to department to ensure that all required environmental training is delivered and that there is appropriate and current content to accompany it.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares reports, plans and permits required to comply with federal/state/local statutes and regulations. Collects samples and data and conducts analysis and calculations required for reports and plans

 • Coordinates implementation of company policies and procedures.

• Performs environmental audits and field inspections. Assists with EPA and other regulatory agency inspections and information requests. Prepares reports detailing audit findings. Recommends changes in refinery operations to ensure compliance.

• Provides technical guidance to enhance operations. Establishes operating guidelines. Develops and implements testing and sampling systems to assure compliance.

• Ensures compliance with air, waste and/or water regulations.

• May coordinate off-site transportation, disposal, treatment, or recycling of waste. Includes establishing contacts, manifesting, and other regulatory required documents.

• Serves as a member of 24/7 Emergency Response Team and/or Oil Spill Response Team.

• Provided needed support to the Title V compliance tool • Provide needed support to the Intelex assurance tool

• Be the focal point for site environmental training • Lead Environmental Stewardship efforts

• Manage procedures within Environmental to drive compliance and continuous improvement

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Minimum undergraduate degree in environmental sciences or related field required. Experience

• Minimum 5 years progressive environmental experience in petroleum or related industry required.
