  • Support development and deployment of project control processes, methodologies, systems and tools to improve management and execution of projects. Work closely with project controls team and individual project managers to develop and maintain project schedules, forecast capital and expense project costs, and support the project accrual process.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide project controls support through all phases of refinery projects to ensure optimization of project resources. Utilize standardized proprietary project control processes, methodologies, systems, and tools. Conduct analysis on performance metrics and complete variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with project managers to review and validate progress and spend curves. Link change management to latest estimate and schedules. Review contingency/reserve progression to assess effects on program costs; communicate budget & forecast exposures.
  • Coordinate the completion and submittal of monthly Project Status Reports.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated master schedule for expense and capital projects. Determine project sequences, lead times, and progress. Prepare forward-looking manpower planning, metrics, and trends. Review critical path and activities behind schedule with project managers.
  • Support TAR group in their effort to integrate expense and capital project schedules with the TAR schedule.
  • Assist monthly project forecasting effort. This will require frequent communication with the project engineers, contractors, and material suppliers in order to understand progress and spend patterns.
  • Assist in preparing yearly budgets.
  • Complete capital and expense project estimate activities, including but not limited to:
  • Reconcile actual project costs against the implementation stage estimate and use this information to optimize labor rates and indirect costs, thereby improving our future estimate accuracy.
  • Review estimates completed by contractors for accuracy, consistency, and content.
  • Complete preliminary estimates for new projects.
  • Complete project in-service notifications.




• Degree in engineering, accounting, finance, or related discipline (or equivilant work experience can be considered)


• Minimum 5 years project controls experience in petrochemical industry.

• Experience with refining capital projects preferred.
