MPC’s Mandan Refinery located in Mandan, North Dakota is seeking a maintenance craft worker who specializes analyzer maintenance. This position will specialize in analyzer work conducting routine monitoring and maintenance to provide the highest possible on-stream availability of all analyzer systems, this position will include general craft work responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Report problems and possible solutions with analyzer systems to supervisor and customers.
  • Receive instructions, work orders and safe work permits for the troubleshooting, repair, calibration, replacement or overhaul requirements of analyzers, probes, and sensors.
  • Complete modifications, changes and data collection of analyzers and sample systems.
  • Perform routine monitoring of sample handling systems and preventative maintenance associated with CEMS and Process analyzers.
  • Transport, replace and maintain calibration gases for analyzers.
  • Types of Analyzers include Gas Chromatographs (TCD, FPD), CEMS (Paramagnetic, UV, NDIR), Sulfur Analyzers (UV Fluorescence, UV).
  • Periodically perform calibration, maintenance, installation, repair, and replacement on all instrumentation and associated equipment including, but not limited to, pneumatic and electronic transmitters, control valves, solenoid valves, gauges, switches, and rotating equipment monitoring systems.
  • Attend and participate in morning toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • General Craft work to include Blinding, Heat Exchanger Maintenance, Steam Tracing Repairs, etc.

 

The candidate must have the ability to read and comprehend piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), loop diagrams, technical manuals, and other process safety information. The candidate must be able to work independently of others, demonstrate excellent organizational skills and be able to evaluate and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure alignment with plant goals while acting with a sense of urgency (when required).

 

Key competencies and skills the candidate must possess include strong oral, verbal, and written communication skills, strong computer skills in computerized maintenance systems and analyzer specific software. The candidate must be customer-focused, results-driven, and effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the company.

 

Qualified applicants should have a minimum of four years of analyzer maintenance experience in a petrochemical or chemical plant setting and two-year associate degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Instrument Technology or equivalent degree.
