Responsible for the operations, maintenance, installation, and testing and repair of instruments, controllers, valves, analyzers, measurement equipment and pipelines at the designated facility, associated pipelines and interconnect facilities.


• Maintain and/or repair instruments, analyzers, monitors, detectors and control systems as assigned.
• Install, maintain, and analyze computerized control devices, control and instrument loops, safety shutdown systems, communications devices, and gas sampling devices and make necessary repairs as instructed by supervisor.
• Witness and/or calibrate gas measurement, analytical and test equipment as assigned.
• Perform assigned scheduled maintenance on pipelines and associated facilities, (i.e., valve maintenance, cathodic protection, relief valve maintenance, etc.).
• Respond to all pipeline emergencies and facility upsets as directed by supervisor.
• Have basic understanding of natural gas characteristics and natural gas measurement.
• Handle One Call notifications, locating and marking pipelines and being present during excavation.
• Demonstrate continuous effort to maintain safety, improve operations, eliminate upsets, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively with interconnect personnel to provide quality seamless operation.
• Maintain the assigned facilities and associated interconnect facilities yards, routinely policing the areas for trash, weeds and safety hazards.
• Complete covered tasks and process all DOT 192 regulatory forms as assigned.
• Other tasks as assigned by supervisor required for daily operations.
• Work safely while following all MarkWest safety policies and standards
• Work in a team environment with two other employees

This position requires the individual to complete Operator Qualification training for all assigned covered tasks.

Experience in both electrical and pneumatic instrumentation is required. Five (5) years of cumulative instrument & control experience, of which three (3) years should be in the maintenance and repair of pneumatic, analog and digital control equipment, industrial electronics and test equipment or computerized process control equipment. Successful completion of one basic instrumentation and electronics course required. Continuing education should include completion of training schools and seminars with regard to all aspects of pipeline regulations, natural gas measurement, and other topics related to job responsibilities.

Must possess knowledge of distributive controls, programmable logic systems, pneumatic, analog, digital control systems and devices, analog and digital electronic theory, terminology and application. Safety knowledge of gas, chemicals, pressurized equipment and high voltage is necessary. Use and care of the following tools and equipment is necessary: calibration test equipment, hand tools, and volt and amp meters.


Physical Demands:

This position will require sitting, lifting, filing and some travel. There will be outside office assignments that involve walking around construction sites, industrial and field locations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold, risk of electrical shock, explosive environments and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment can be usually loud.

Position will be required to occasionally work after hours and respond to call outs. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required.
