Marathon Petroleum Company LP, a major petroleum refiner and marketer, is accepting resumes for Operations Technicians in the Kenova, WV area. This position works with and around petroleum products and is responsible for all operating aspects of a petroleum products terminal. This position will be assigned to a home terminal, but the successful candidate will be expected to cover work at other terminals in the region as required to meet business needs. The position requires working 12 hour rotating shifts, including working weekends and holidaysOccasional overnight travel, call-outs, and overtime will be required. The position comes with an excellent benefits package and competitive starting pay.

Responsibilities

  1. Operation and troubleshooting associated with a marine terminal and related tank farms, as well as other facility equipment.
  2. All phases of dock and tank transfers including barge loading/unloading.
  3. Sampling of petroleum products.
  4. Storage tank and barge gauging.
  5. Handling the shipment and receipt of petroleum products via pipeline and/or barge.
  6. Stair climbing, lifting up to 80 pounds, and working outdoors.
  7. Preparation of various terminal reports and regulatory documents.
  8. Completion of all required training.
  9. Other varied work assignments.

 

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must be motivated, self-starters, able to work independently, and possess an excellent work record with references. Candidates must also be very dependable and be willing to work a flexible schedule as necessary.
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills is required
  • Proficiency in math and ability to maintain accurate records are required
  • Associate degree or vocational technical training is preferred
  • American Merchant Mariner Credential preferred, but is not required for selection. The successful candidate will be required to obtain this credential as part of employment
  • Ability to pass Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) background check
  • A working knowledge of and previous experience with mechanical and electrical systems is preferred
  • Process operations, maintenance crafts and/or petroleum industry experience would be beneficial
