Summary 

 

Provides engineering support to deliver technical work packages for implementation of expense and capital projects.  Manages Project Request process and supervises multi-discipline team to produce deliverables in accordance with Marathon technical specifications as required for routine operations and maintenance activities as well as Turnaround engineering scopes.  Stewardship level responsibility and accountability for ensuring engineering technical standards are fully implemented and maintained with regular updates in collaboration with subject matter experts.  Participates in enterprise level advisory groups focused on engineering best practices.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Supervises team of engineers focused on delivering technical packages in support of Maintenance, Operations, and Turnaround (TAR) Planning including multi-discipline piping design, civil/structural, equipment replacements, electrical/instrumentation, and in-service welding.
  • Provides engineering support and project development  for programs such as the Demo and VPP programs.  Develops and issues small projects originating from inspection recommendations, incident investigations, and area team issues
  • Manages engineering contractors for small projects and TAR engineering package development.
  • Supports construction with prompt clarifications and response to requests for information.  Participates in final project acceptance by verifying installations meet technical design objectives
  • Stewardship responsibility and accountability for the Project Request process utilized for administration and management of project back log.  Facilitates process with outreach to stakeholders and asset managers for active utilization of the system
  • Supports Management of Change process and participates as both MOC leader or MOC support as dictated by project definition.
  • Participates in annual budget development and provides monthly updates on cost forecasts.
  • Leads development and implementation of refining engineering technical standards.  Ensures incorporation of industry codes/standards and best practices. Coordinates final approval and distribution/publication. Develops and delivers site training to educate, inform and guide refinery stakeholders on application of engineering technical standards.  Ensures standards reflect both engineering and work processes and supported by industry best practices.

 

Requirements 

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in engineering required.
  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience in petrochemical industry required.
