Provides mechanical engineering to develop technical work packages in support of Operations, Maintenance, and Turnaround (TAR).   Supports implementation of mechanical integrity and reliability engineering programs with respect to equipment replacement and upgrade strategies and develops small capital and expense projects as requested.




  1. Supports Maintenance and Construction Planning with development of technical work packages that define the scope of work in accordance with MPC and industry standards.  Maintains involvement during execution to support construction by responding to requests for information and participating in project mechanical completion acceptance, start up and commissioning.
  2. Works extended hours, including nights and weekends, in process operations environment and during periods of inclement weather. Accesses areas of refinery requiring use of stairs and/or ladders to inspect critical process and mechanical equipment. Responds to upset conditions during off-hours.
  3. Procures engineered equipment including development of data sheets and inquiry packages and coordination with Procurement group for solicitation scheduling, receipt of proposals, and technical evaluation and recommendations for purchase.
  4. Works closely with engineering contractors to facilitate development of contracted scopes by ensuring that technical standards and basis drawings are available for contractors.
  5. Stewardship of Management of Change process as in both support and lead role depending on project definition.  Ensure MOC process is fully executed for all assigned projects and supports technical review of other packages as requested
  6. Processes project requests and delivers packages for both TAR and Non-TAR execution.  Works with supervisor and asset managers to prioritize scopes and participates in budgeting process to ensure capital and expense projects are accurately reflected.




  • Minimum undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering required.
  • Minimum 3 years mechanical engineering experience in refining industry required.
