The Louisiana Refining Division will begin the process for accepting applications for the position(s) of the 2018 Summer Sons & Daughters Program. All eligible LRD MPC employees’ dependent children may apply.  However, there are a limited number of positions available.

Candidates submitting applications must satisfy all of the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be a son or daughter and a dependent of an active MPC Louisiana Refining Division, Pipeline, Terminal, Marine or Marketing group employee working within the LRD complex.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and scheduled to graduate from high school by June 11, 2018.
  • Applicants currently attending college (students in graduate school are not eligible) must attach a college transcript of the most recent semester with their completed application.  Failure to provide a transcript will disqualify the student from the program.
  • Applicants must be attending or scheduled to attend a two or four-year institution as a full-time student in the fall of 2018 working towards a college degree.  Prior to employment, successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of their plans to attend school in the fall.

  • Applicants who are hired will be required to obtain a TWIC card prior to their start date with the cost covered by Marathon.

Most of the available positions will be laborer and clerical positions.  Preferences will be prioritized as follows:

  1. First preference will be based on the number of summers the student has worked at the refinery (0-2 summers, prioritized in that order).
  2. Second preference will be based on the student’s college standing—from 4th year students down to 1st year students (prioritized in that order).
  3. After this, we will consider students applying for positions beyond their 2nd summer in this program.

Applicants will have until April 6, 2018 to complete the electronic application for this position and provide the LRD Human Resources Department an original college transcript or an acceptance letter from the college they plan to attend in the fall of 2018.
