Marathon Petroleum Company LP’s Louisiana Refining Division currently has a vacancy for an E&I Engineer to support the Engineering Department’s Major Projects and Mid-Cap Projects Groups.



This challenging assignment as an E&I Engineer is an excellent opportunity to gain exceptional experience on large projects.  The position’s main role is to provide E&I technical direction in order to execute the largest capital and expense projects at the Louisiana Refining Division.  Projects are typically multi discipline and range in size from $5,000,000 - $750,000,000.  These projects are executed to support refinery optimization, reliability and compliance with new regulations.  Support of multiple projects concurrently is required.  This Engineer may be expected to travel up to 40% to an EPC contractor office or vendor shop during engineering.



  • Responsible for coordination of electrical and instrumentation system design, installation, MOC process and functional checkout for a particular project and/or area. 
  • Interface with engineering contractors, refining personnel, E&I vendors, construction contractors, and engineers through all project phases.
  • Continuously confirms E&I design complies with project specifications, goals and deliverables.
  • Review all E&I information provided by internal sources and engineering contractors.
  • Confirms and communicates E&I controls technology philosophy.
  • Coordinate the engineering effort to ensure all deliverables are provided to support construction.  Aid in the development of construction work packages.
  • Be a core project team member working with Operations, Maintenance, Construction, Tech Services and all Engineering Disciplines to gain consensus and resolve conflicts.
  • Provide technical support during construction, turnaround and startup.  Provide timely resolution to construction Requests for Information (RFI’s).
  • Compile project information and conduct presentations to the Refinery Leadership Team for major project decisions.



  • A Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years post degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ETAP and InTools preferred.
