SUMMARY
Oversees field execution of refinery capital improvements ensuring work is conducted in safe and environmentally compliant manner. Projects range from major capital projects, small capital projects to major maintenance activities. Projects typically require coordination of contract craft resources
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides constructability input to project leadership during gated Front-End Loading (Appraise, Select and Define stages) as projects are initiated, concepts selected and front-end definitions developed. Reviews proposed designs to advise on constructability issues with adverse impact.
2. Works with project engineers and planners to specify contents of construction work packages and produce resource-loaded project schedules. Performs on-site field assessments to validate requirements.
3. Works with Procurement to identify and obtain resources (equipment, materials, contractors). Supports material receiving through inspection.
4. Reviews contractors’ credentials and assesses contractors’ performance for conformance with established qualification process.
5. Leads and coordinates craft resources during Project Execution stage to implement construction and installation of facilities and equipment in accordance with approved detailed design. Monitors and controls project performance to ensure established quality, cost and time targets achieved in safe and environmentally sound manner. Monitors adherence to engineering standards. May perform outside fabrication shop inspections.
6. Collaborates with Project Controls on project administration (scheduling, estimating, cost management, schedule management, reporting etc) so that project resources are optimized. Conducts productivity analysis to identify and resolve critical variances so that project can achieve established objectives. Maintains accurate and current project documentation necessary to achieve project. As needed provides input to start-up manuals, operating and emergency response procedures, training materials, etc.
7. Must have physical ability to perform all essential job duties and work extended hours, including nights and weekends in process operations environment. Work may be conducted during periods of inclement weather. Must have physical ability to access all areas of the refinery including use of stairs and/or ladders to inspect critical process and mechanical equipment.
 
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years experience as construction supervisor, foreman or planner in petrochemical industry preferred.

Knowledge of refinery constrcution required
