Overview:

Responsible for oversight and implementation of MPC Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Program.  Also responsible for evaluating existing and emerging technologies and NDE service providers.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the entire in-house MPC NDE Program, with written procedures to ASME BPVC Section V and personnel qualifications/certifications in accordance with SNT-TC-1A.
  2. Responsible for maintaining and instructing students regarding the in-house MPC NDE training program, which leads to an MPC Level II internal certification.
  3. Responsible for evaluation and oversight of existing and new NDE vendors, including audits, evaluations, and system performance demonstrations (SPD’s).
  4. Responsible for evaluating new NDE technologies to ascertain acceptability for locating and sizing known or suspected applicable damage mechanisms.
  5. Responsible for interface with all MPC sites to provide expertise and consultation in NDE applications as requested by each site.
  6. Responsible for working with Inspection and TAR Planning Teams to assist in strategic NDE planning to minimize downtime, while simultaneously producing high-quality results.
  7. Works as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), with new construction project teams, providing expertise, guidance, and oversight of NDE applications on construction projects, including evaluations of fabricator/constructor NDE sub-vendors and suppliers.
  8. Participate in industry meetings and conferences, i.e. ASNT, ASME, API, etc., as needed.
  9. Assists as a SME in various MPC internal training opportunities.
  10. Other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Corporate Fixed Equipment Reliability Specialist.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in an NDE, Engineering, Technical or related discipline with a minimum of 5-years extensive experience with at least three (3) different NDE methods; or,
  2. Associate Degree in an NDE, Engineering, Technical or related discipline with a minimum of 10-years extensive experience with at least three (3) different NDE methods; or,
  3. High School Education with at least 15-years extensive experience with at least three (3) different NDE methods.

Experience:

  1. 10-years of documented experience in a refinery or petrochemical environment including conducting evaluations, examinations, and inspections.
  2. Training experience is also required, particularly in Level II NDE certification training in accordance with SNT-TC-1A.
  3. Additional experience with advanced NDE systems (AUT, PAUT, CRT, etc.) is preferred.

Certifications:

  1. Current ACCP or ASNT Level III Certification in at least three of the following methods:  MT, PT, UT, RT, VT, and ET.
  2. Able to obtain remaining Level III certifications within three (3) years of initial employment at MPC.

Computer Profisciency:

  1. Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office products with emphasis on PowerPoint and Outlook. 
  2. Ability to utilize additional refining-specific software (Meridium) and/or mainframe software applications.

Relocation:

  1. May work from any of the 16 MPC refinery locations, corporate office in Findlay, OH or the Russell, KY office.
