Overview

Marketing and Transportation Engineering (M&TE) is an engineering service and project management organization comprised of engineering and other resources that manage project work associated with pipelines, terminals, and marine. This position provides engineering support for the Terminals, Transport and Rail (TT&R). The M&TE department electrical engineers provide services that consist of power and control design, instrumentation development, emerging technology evaluation as well as project and construction management. The position will be located in the Findlay, OH office and can expect travel up to 30% of the time, including 20% overnight travel.  The position will have primarily design responsibilities but can be expected to have some project management responsibilities as well.

 

Design Responsibilities

1. Work in an electrical core team, led by an electrical design team lead, to support all electrical scope items throughout Terminal Engineering.

2. Evaluate new and existing systems for development, maintenance and modifications.

  • Improve & implement control system designs
    • PLC programing/ interfacing, graphical user interface screens.
    • Review emerging control technology and how to interface with automation system, PLC, and other systems. 
  • Assist with specification and integration of control devices such as PLCs, sensors, transmitters, tranducers, relays, VFDs, operator interface devices etc.
  • Create and update electrical schematics

3. Develop and review designs and assure construction activities meet industry safety standards such as NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and OSHA

4. Provide field start-up support for GE PLCs, VFDs, and other configurable instrumentation or power devices (Includes programing of PLC Logic, set-up of configurable devices, etc…).

 

Project Management Responsibilities

1. Apply project management skills to all facets of work including application of current technology, design optimization, resource procurement, financial monitoring, scheduling/planning, and contractor/consultant coordination as necessary to provide timely, cost-effective, safe environmentally conscientious, and value-added engineering services to the business partners.

2. Communicates with business partners to ensure timely project development and cost/status update information is available. Communicates with work associates and external Business Partners to ensure timely and efficient project development and completion. Appropriately identifies, documents, and communicates to their supervisor the resources required to ensure that workloads are completed cost-effectively and within timeframes.

 

Qualifications

Computer Proficiencies: Proficient in MS Office products and MS Project.

Work Experience: Prior GE PLC / Proficy (selection and set-up, programming, start-up) or instruments and control system design and start-up are a plus. Candidate should also be familiar with communication systems and cabling methods such as Ethernet, fiber, serial interface and some wireless systems.
