Marathon Petroleum Company's (MPC) Terminal, Transport, & Rail (TT&R) Measurements & Engineering department is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide engineering and program support on Health, Environmental, Safety, & Security (HES&S) related topics/initiatives.  The primary means for this support will be through the development and coordination of global process improvement and facility enhancement programs as they relate to HES&S.  Typical assignments may include TT&R budget management and execution of the related program requirements, determination of new project scope and development of Project Idea Forms.  This position will serve as a liaison between the TT&R HES&S department and MPC's Marketing & Transportation Engineering organization on projects and initiatives.  Additionally, the position will provide consistent technical solutions for terminal HES&S issues.


TT&R distributes refined oil and gas products through more than 80 terminals located throughout the Midwest and Southeast. Our mission is to advance MPC’s business objectives by providing terminaling and transportation services that are cost effective, protect product quality, and are capable of quickly responding to changing market opportunities.



  1. Provide timely support for fire system needs and requirements.
  2. Develop and manage engineering programs related to HES&S topics/initiatives.  Programs include projects related to Environmental / Underground Storage Tanks (UST’s), Fire Protection, Dike Permeability, Fall Protection, and Security initiatives.
  3. Oversee the planning and execution of all Fire System Inspection Testing Preventive Maintenance (ITPM) for Terminal sites through utilization of TT&R’s maintenance system.  Track maintenance/repairs and trending data for continuous improvement.
  4. Assist with the development of the Transportation & Logistics organization and TT&R governing standards as they relate to assigned equipment and programs.
  5. Manage current year capital and expense program budgets while projecting five year plans.
  6. Develop and maintain Fire Core Drawing sets for each TT&R asset.
  7. Develop and maintain appropriate level of expertise related to HES&S processes and equipment.
  8. Develop new projects and assist in HES&S program-related initiatives in conjunction with M&TE.
  9. Assist in incident reviews and audits related to HES&S items in particular related to assets and equipment included in aforementioned programs.



A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Health, Environmental, Safety, or Security major discipline is preferred. Five or more years of experience related to HES&S or Project Management is preferred.
