Marathon Pipe Line LLC (MPL) is seeking a Material Controller with procurement experience along with warehousing knowledge.  The successful candidate should be a self-starter who is organized, possesses effective communication skills and be able to work with multiple teams.  Experience in multiple business units is a plus.  This position requires minimal travel to pipeline areas to obtain and maintain equipment information.  The position reports to the Operational Engineering Manager and will work closely with the Reliability Engineers and the MPL SAP group.



  • Manage Material Control Process for MPL including written standards, SAP database and training
  • Participate in SAP “Community of Excellence” on inventory requirements
  • Work with processes to get spare assets they currently manage into SAP (potentially 15,000 assets to be set up)
  • Work with Area personnel  to maintain spare parts and stock items they have in their areas into SAP (up to 50,000 spare parts)
  • Coordinate contractor and MPL personnel resources to collect required material/spare part information
  • Establish processes for control of materials, shelf life, reorder point/reorder quantities, spare equipment assets and parts
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with all parties in the Supply Chain and create robust, sustainable relationships, including Procurement groups, internal clients and suppliers
  • Maintain high HES standards including leading and participating in activities supporting HES performance commitments
  • Ensure compliance with all required Marathon policy and procedures and all industry and legislative requirements
  • Coordinate MOCR updates to equipment
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPI’s)
  • Provide guidance, support, training and development to other personnel
