Overview:

The Graphic Services organization reports to the Administrative Services Manager of Marathon Petroleum Company LP. Graphic Services has a complete, in-house design agency serving all of MPC’s operating and administrative groups. It is responsible for graphic and web design work, illustrations, photography, video/audio productions, streaming media and multimedia games/presentations. It also has a complete duplication and document imaging shop. The successful candidate will assist our Art Team, Photo/Video Team and/or Web Team on various projects. Such projects could include location or portrait photography; capturing and editing video footage for company events, promotions or training programs; the design, layout and publishing of certain company websites or portals; the creation of web-based training tools; and/or the design of graphic images, posters, brochures or banners. In addition, the successful candidate should possess a commitment to customer service, safety, ethical behavior and confidentiality.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Meets with client personnel at all organizational levels to discuss and define communication objectives and ideas for the creation and development of a wide variety of projects, some of which may be confidential.
  2. Creates, develops and recommends original ideas and artistic techniques to ensure optimum presentation impact for print graphics, websites, videos or other creative projects. Considers budget constraints/implications when creating and developing ideas.
  3. Works efficiently - independently or as part of a team - to identify artistic requirements, create visual communication concepts and complete assignments on time, using the appropriate tools.
  4. Able to organize business source materials into clear communication and design to enhance messaging and experience. Able to develop original ideas and concepts with limited input from clients. Prioritizes, organizes and schedules work assignments and projects. Takes necessary action to correct any deficiencies and/or make appropriate changes in line with client expectations.
  5. Develops and maintains complete project files for all assignments. Compiles, maintains and inputs daily record of activities, supplies and project time in assigned areas.
  6. Outputs final art (electronic file) for print, considering issues such as media, printer pagination, trapping, separations, software to be used for importing/exporting, etc.
  7. Knowledgeable in the areas of typography and computer font usage.
  8. Develops knowledge on the proper use of Company logos/trademarks and corporate branding.
  9. Willing to travel to locations outside of Findlay, OH, primarily with respect to any photo or video projects on which the candidate participates.
  10. Demonstrates commitment to company safety programs and goals by incorporating safety into all areas of job responsibility. Provides assistance to others within the various Administrative Services areas, as necessary, in support of the team effort.

 

Qualifications:

Major Discipline: Pursuit of a degree in Visual Communication Technology, with candidates in their junior or senior year, is preferred. Pursuit of a degree in a related graphic design, photography or video production field would also be considered.
Computer Skills & Proficiencies: PC computer, Windows and/or Mac operating system and design software technical skills are required. A basic understanding of or experience with the Adobe Suite of design software, still photography equipment, high-definition video equipment, video lighting techniques and editing software is desired. Possesses the interpersonal skills needed to function effectively as a member of a team and to interface well with clients, and is able to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to co-workers and customers.
