Overview

The demurrage processing and analysis functions were consolidated within the Marine (West) as part of the integration of Andeavor into Marathon.   This change will provide opportunities for cross training in other areas of Marine, claims processing, and development of analytical tools.  The team in Findlay includes three other analysts as part of a team of an additional five analysts in San Antonio that will manage the growing number of potential claims resulting from the increased number of waterborne movements. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Review demurrage claims for validity and accuracy to determine if they are consistent with the purchase or sales contract, time logs, refinery and inspection reports.  Dispute inaccurate claims.
  • Communicate and negotiate settlements with external business partners regarding demurrage claims and rebills.
  • Review and submit final claim invoices to accounting for payment processing.
  • Rebill demurrage on equipment MPC owns and charters. Create receivables in SAP and track claim statuses.
  • Generate monthly accrual reports and coordinate with accounting.
  • Identify and assign demurrage events to categories for reporting purposes.
  • Capture the savings from reviewing the claims.
  • Track Trends.
  • Review and interpret contract terms and make recommendations to business partners.
  • Coordinate communications with business partners to ensure alignment with strategic goals and business goals.
  • Provide support for refinery projects.
  • Provide backup to demurrage analysts
  • Work as liaison between Legal, SD&P, R&M and SD&P Accounting, Marketing, Refining and Commercial Credit
