Role Overview:

 

The Cybersecurity Principal is a highly critical role tasked with providing assurance for the security posture of the enterprise through evaluating existing technical controls across the entire infrastructure, reviewing proposed changes, representing security in projects and initiatives, and continually seeking to sustain and enhance layers of defense.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in Risk Assessments to identify risks, measure worst-case potential impact, and determine likelihood of occurrence to inform stakeholders
  • Proposes technical measures to decrease risks within the established level of tolerance
  • Provides a cybersecurity checkpoint in projects/initiatives, applying predetermined principles to ensure changes meet minimum thresholds of security and do not pose unacceptable business risk
  • Identifies gaps in the corporate cybersecurity program, developing and recommending compensating measures to strengthen and fortify existing defenses
  • Monitors cybersecurity threats to the industry, communicating potential issues to management
  • Participates in security controls development
  • Assesses potential cybersecurity products and service offerings, communicating recommendations
  • Reviews proposed changes to policies, standards and procedures to ensure adequate cybersecurity controls are sustained
  • Leads incident response activities and various cybersecurity initiatives as needed
  • Must be willing to travel as needed

    Qualifications:

     

  • 4-6 years of experience in a technical, professional role for an enterprise, with a minimum of 2 years in a technical cybersecurity position
  • Professional certification, such as Security+, or SANS GSEC
  • Thorough understanding of multiple domains of Information Technology, including network infrastructure, systems administration, relational database administration, and application development
  • Well versed in cybersecurity principles, theory, and practical application in an enterprise setting
  • Ability to apply project management techniques to successfully organize tasks and initiatives
  • Outstanding organizational and oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand new technologies and concepts
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Ability to provide detailed reporting

     

 
 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Systems Security, Electrical Engineering, Physical Sciences) or equivalent background and experience
  • CISSP certification
