Role Overview:


The Cybersecurity Architect ensures consistent delivery of cybersecurity services to MPC and its subsidiaries in both the Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments; identifies and leads initiatives to drive improved security operations and to improve the overall security posture and maturity of the organization; mentors cybersecurity analysts and principals; and supports both cybersecurity operations and internal business customers.  This role is responsible to identify risks within the infrastructure and communicate them in business language to ensure stakeholders sufficiently understand and prioritize remediation.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Tracks, researches, understands and communicates technological trends, advances, and opportunities, focusing upon potential impact to the enterprise security posture
  • Applies industry best practice cybersecurity architecture methodologies, models and tools to provide security assurance for various IT and OT environments
  • Designs and develop cybersecurity solutions for enterprise-wide systems and networks
  • Qualifies, compares, and recommends potential cybersecurity product and service vendors
  • Takes complex issues and explains them simply to internal customers and leadership while also providing tailored recommendations on courses of action
  • Evaluates complex enterprise cybersecurity infrastructure and ensures the disparate components are well integrated, secure, and operating efficiently
  • Ensures system cybersecurity needs are established and maintained for operations
  • Develops cybersecurity requirements, assess cybersecurity risks, and perform systems analysis design
  • Supports cybersecurity test and evaluation, systems hardening, vulnerability testing and scanning
  • Supports incident response activities
  • Represents cybersecurity for disaster recovery and business continuity planning
  • Provides analytical support for cybersecurity policy development and analysis
  • Provides subject matter expertise for risk assessments, maturity assessments and security reviews 
  • Assesses initiatives for security impacts, recommending controls to minimize risks
  • Supports development of roadmaps, business plans and budgets
  • Works closely with Project Managers to fully understand technical requirements and recommend solutions
  • Provides technical mentorship to cybersecurity principals and analysts
  • Must be willing to travel as needed 


The successful Cybersecurity Architect:


  • Has strong problem solving and organization skills
  • Is able to build and maintain excellent relationships with the customer
  • Is a self-starter with the ability to work with all levels of customer’s management with minimum direct supervision
  • Has strong presentation and communication skills; this is a critical requirement for this position. Candidate must be able to clearly communicate technical approaches and findings 




  • 10+ years of broad IT experience in information security, information systems, or related field of study, with at least 5 years Cybersecurity related experience
  • Cybersecurity experience in a large enterprise 
  • Good familiarity with project management methodology
  • Experience with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and other standards frameworks CVSS, ISO, NIST, ITIL, etc
  • Outstanding organizational and oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand new technologies and concepts
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Ability to provide detailed reporting
  • CISSP and other security certifications (i.e. CEH, ISSAP/ISSMP, CRISC, SANS)
  • Familiarity with building and designing enterprise security strategies and roadmaps
  • Experience with cybersecurity technologies and advanced threat management solutions
  • Experience with cloud, mobile, SIEM, and varied cybersecurity technologies
  • Experience integrating heterogeneous operational security technologies
  • Experience with product security vulnerability management, responsible disclosure, publishing CVEs, and experience working with security research community



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Master’s degree in technical field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Systems Security, Electrical Engineering, Physical Sciences)
  • SABSA certification
  • Energy industry cybersecurity architecture experience
