POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Federal Income Tax Compliance group is responsible for;  filing Federal corporate partnership, and trust income tax returns;  assisting with state return preparation and review; assisting with the quarterly provision work; and providing tax support to management and operations.  The analyst performs multiple tasks and collaborates with internal and external organizations. This position reports to the Federal Income Tax Operations Manager.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Prepare and review required federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns for assigned companies, which include preparing supporting workpapers and schedules and monitoring tax calendar
  • Prepare and analyze Federal, state and local estimated tax payments
  • Prepare and review domestic supporting schedules for tax provisions included in the financial statements
  • Liaise with accounting, operations, and other departments to ensure the efficient, accurate, and timely filing of income and franchise tax returns
  • Prepare, analyze, and review tax depreciation reports
  • Work on time sensitive, confidential projects
  • Expand tax knowledge and maintain certification by completion of continuing education
  • Work with the audit team to compile data to support audit responses and requests for information from taxing authorities
  • Support research of tax compliance issues and planning matters
  • Mentor and support less experienced staff

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelors Required in Accounting or Finance. 
  • CPA or on the path of becoming a CPA is preferred.
  • General ledger and tax software experience (such as SAP or CorpTax) is preferred. A strong proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Mix of Public Accounting and Industry is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4+ years related experience.

 

 

SKILLS

 

  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop solutions
  • Verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal and external customers
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making as well as work in a large corporate team environment
  • Experience with tax software, research software, general ledger systems (SAP preferred), and proficient with excel
