Overview
The Financial Analyst position is responsible for forecasting MPC consolidated cash flows, balance sheet and income statement data for the annual Business Plan, monthly S&D forecast updates and additional scenario modeling.
Responsibilities
- Forecasts cash flows and the balance sheet for the annual Business Plan, Rolling Forecast and monthly S&D forecast updates, including forecasting changes in working capital related to crude and refined products and capital expenditures
- Prepares an MPC consolidated income statement for the annual Business Plan and monthly S&D forecast updates, including forecasting net income attributable to MPC, shares outstanding, EPS and EBITDA, and collaborating with the Tax Department on forecasting the tax provision and payments
- Prepares ad hoc forecasts for additional scenario modeling
- Prepares analysis on the key drivers and assumptions impacting forecasts and variances
- Presents monthly S&D forecast to senior management
- Provides forecasts used for the monthly leverage analysis and periodic rating agency presentations
- Assists with modeling the downside cash flows for core liquidity analysis
- Provides support for the dividend and share repurchase models
- Business lead for managing the Hyperion Strategic Finance (HSF) forecasting process
- Prepares reports/schedules for the Business Plan and Board presentations
- Serves as a liaison with technical accounting experts in the Controller’s organization to ensure the forecasting process is aligned with accounting actuals and GAAP. Communicate knowledge to others in the forecasting process.
- Collaborates with Treasury and MPLX Finance to ensure forecasts are aligned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field; Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
- Minimum 5 years experience in Accounting, Finance, Analytics or related field
