Overview
The Engineering Supervisor must have the ability to stimulate the development of communication and interpersonal
skills of personnel so that appropriate work relationships can be developed with customers, contractors, and other work
associates. Supervises the development, management, and completion of a wide range of engineering and
construction projects primarily involving refining facilities; applies an advanced level of project management and
technical engineering knowledge and experience to monitor and ensure that projects are completed in a timely, cost
effective, and quality-controlled manner. The Engineering Supervisor reports to the ELP Engineering Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strategically distributes workloads; ensures that projects are completed within the intended budget year.
  • Maintains assigned workloads in a flexible environment to meet the changing needs of the refinery.
  • Trains personnel in the areas of project management, engineering and construction design, project cost control, quality objectives, scheduling, and safety to allow for the efficient completion of project assignments.
  • Develops a teamwork approach to providing services.
  • Clearly communicates expectations to personnel; evaluates individual performance versus expectations to determine the areas of strength and weakness of personnel; appraises personnel of their performance status in a timely manner.
  • Pursues responsibilities with an eye toward innovation and cultivates innovation in personnel; documents and implements as appropriate innovative ideas.
  • Prepares status and progress reports for management. Maintains timely communication of project schedules, financial status, and project viability with the customer and appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains a knowledge of current appropriate local, state, and federal regulations that have potential impact on present and future operations, projects, and design. Initiates recommendations, changes, and improvements to ensure adequate and cost-effective compliance with regulations affecting area of responsibility.
  • Supports budgeting process by ensuring all projects are developed to meet budgeting deadlines and data is accurate and timely.
  • Works with project engineers to manages portfolio of projects and assists in prioritization to hit year to year budgets.

 

 

Minimum (Required) Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years post-degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry
  • Minimum of 2 years post-degree supervisory experience in the refining or petrochemical industry
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10-20 years post-degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry
  • Minimum of 5 years post-degree supervisory experience in the refining or petrochemical industry
