Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opportunity for a Warehouse Foreman position at its refinery located in Dickinson, ND.  The Warehouse Foreman reports, Refining Supply Chain Manager for the Dickinson and Mandan refineries.



The Warehouse Foreman is responsible for warehouse activities at Dakota Prairie Refinery. The successful candidate will develop warehouse strategies, provide support toward procurement and contracting activities, hold responsibilities for material planning, and ensure business requirements are met. This position oversees the activities of an hourly workforce and will manage routine inventories in excess of $2.3 MM.



  • Maintain high standards for Health, Environment, Safety & Security (HES&S); lead and participate in activities supporting HES&S commitments. Ensure that employees/vendors adhere to safe practices and follow requirements in the storage and transportation of materials. Ensure team’s personal safety is a priority.
  • Support internal Business Partners (Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, etc.). Collaborate and effectively communicate with them to create robust, sustainable relationships. Be proactive, understand organizational needs, and align material management and contracting strategies to internal business partner goals.
  • Maintain daily warehouse operations including the management of goods receipts, goods issues, picklists, cycle counting, stock put away, logistics, quality control/assurance and overall integrity of inventory. Accurately record all material transactions and perform necessary review, corrections, and adjustments to ensure control.
  • Manage and maintain full ownership of material master creations/updates/deletions, daily Material Requirement Planning (MRP), obsolete/surplus material management, repairs/refurbishments, and running required reports.
  • Establish inventory planning levels based on business requirements and stockholding policy. Review inventory to ensure optimal utilization and integrity across all requirements.  Provide and utilize inventory reports for statistical and content analysis for material control.
  • Establish warehouse strategies and organizational goals; develop/track key performance indicators (KPI); utilize root cause analysis to improve performance. Develop short- and long-term plans to increase the efficiency and optimization of warehousing functions and inventory; engage workforce in pursuing continuous improvement efforts; strive to achieve best in class status.
  • Supervise contractor warehouse personnel, ensuring that the expected standards of job performance and safety are met.  Provide coaching and participate in performance management process/discussions. Provide development opportunities and ensure employees/contractors maintain required training and certifications.  Monitor computer-based training status of team members and ensure that they remain 100% compliant with required completion dates.
  • Optimize and maintain warehouse owned or utilized facilities and ensure warehouse equipment is maintained and replaced as necessary.
  • Participate in, and lead as needed, planning processes for identifying upcoming needs of internal business partners and effectively communicating those needs.
  • Provide support with contracting and procurement activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures relating to warehousing are met and consistent with Marathon’s Supply Chain philosophies.
  • Identify and report any Supply Chain Synergies and Cost Savings (Benefits Capture) in support of company goals.
  • Provide support to auditors (Finance, HES&S, etc.); develop responses to address any deficiencies.
  • Provide leadership through active participation on the site’s Leadership Team.


Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University focused in Supply Chain Management preferred.
•    Experience Preferred: 5- 10 years’ experience in material management, contract administration, or a related Supply   Chain discipline
