Summary:

The Dickinson HES Professional-Environmental evaluates compliance with federal, state, and local environmental statutes and regulations by conducting data collection and analysis for environmental regulatory reporting.  Prepares and distributes reports, performs and records inspections.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares reports such as air emission, water discharge, and stormwater discharge, plans and assists with permit applications and negotiations required to comply with federal/state/local statues and regulations.  Collect data and conducts analysis and calculations required for reports and plans.  Makes emergency notifications as needed. 
  2. Provides technical guidance, coordination and implementation of environmental policies and procedures for monitoring and preventing environmental hazards at the facility.  Assists in developing and implementing testing and sampling systems to assure compliance with air, waste and water regulations.
  3. Perform and participate in environmental audits and field inspections.  Assists with NDDEQ and other regulatory agency inspections and information requests.  Prepares reports detailing audit findings.  Recommends changes in refinery operations to ensure compliance.
  4. Participate on incident investigations and implement corrective actions as requested.
  5. Responsible for understanding environmental regulations and corporate programs and developing internal compliance procedures.
  6. Provide environmental guidance and expertise on project related activities.
  7. Prepare and maintain environmental plans/procedures: (i.e. Stormwater Protection Plans, Spill Prevention Plans, Waste Management Plans, etc).
  8. Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies.
  9. Develops environmental information, manuals, training material, and programs; informs employees of related policies and procedures; conducts appropriate training sessions.
  10. Perform other requirements as assigned.

 

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical track (environmental engineering, chemical engineering, geology, chemistry, etc) of higher required.

Experience

  • Experience in an industrial or plant setting is preferred.
  • Environmental compliance experience is preferred.
