Overview:

The HES&S Professional serves as an essential core team member of the Sustainability team. The role supports the systems and processes established for continuity and growth of the business through support of MPLX’s sustainability strategy, metrics, reporting and governance. The HES&S Professional works closely with the environmental, operations and maintenance departments to assist with the preparation and submittal of greenhouse gas and emissions inventory reports. This role will support the collection, review, and submittal of data into the Asset and Compliance Tracking System (ACTs). As needed, the role will also support other sustainability initiatives or reporting efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather & Analyze Environmental Data
    • Works with internal environmental, operations maintenance and other functional teams to gather and analyze monthly environmental data and records for completeness and accuracy.
    • Maintains and performs air emissions calculations using spreadsheets and software programs including ACTS, GRI-GLYCalc, E&P Tanks, and AspenTech HYSYS.
    • Analyze data for trends, evaluate information and monitor the impact of new and ongoing projects on GHG emissions.
    • Provides support for the implementation and maintenance of the environmental software system, ACTS.
  • Recordkeeping & Reporting
    • Assists team in preparation and submission of timely and accurate air emissions calculations and reports required for state emissions inventory programs and greenhouse gas reporting under 40 CFR Part 98 Subparts W, NN and CC.
    • Provide support with data requests from local, state and federal agency inspections.
    • Interprets environmental regulations and guidance and applies that knowledge to environmental recordkeeping and reporting efforts.
  • Other Duties
    • Supports other sustainability initiatives such as ESG reporting for SASB/GRI/TCFD/IPIECA, as needed.
    • Supports G&Ps Focus on Methane program tracking and reporting initiative, as needed.
    • Communicates environmental compliance requirements to MPLX personnel.
    • Participates in Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety audit program.
    • Supports development of environmental training related to GHG and Emission Inventory reporting.
    • Assists Sustainability and Environmental teams with special projects as needed.

 

Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulatory standards and compliance practices as they relate to air emissions; knowledge of EPA Federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program and State (PA, OH, WV, NM, TX, OK, WY, UT, ND, CO & MT) Emissions Inventory preferred.
    • Knowledge on ESG midstream oil and gas issues preferred.  
    • Experience with air emissions calculations preferred.
    • Flexible to work in an evolving regulatory environment.
    • Strong attention to detail with analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
    • Motivated self-starter with strong sense of integrity.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong ability to work collaboratively within a team and across teams.
    • Experience of the midstream oil and gas business along with a history of successfully working on environmental compliance issues.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Job will require report writing and public speaking engagements.
    • Excellent computer skills 

 

 

Preferences/Requirements:

Degree: Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University. Required.

Major: Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Sustainability

Computer Proficiencies: Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

Work Experience:  4+ years of relevant work experience required
