The HES&S Professional - ESG works closely with the corporate affairs, environmental, operations and maintenance departments to develop and implement a wide range of MPLX Gas Processing environmental sustainability initiatives such as but not limited to greenhouse gas and methane reductions, energy efficiency and waste reduction. This role will also lead the annual sustainability reporting efforts for G&P and work collaboratively with other business segments to compile the midstream data.



  • Development of Sustainability Programs:
    • Develop programs and processes to advance and manage environmental performance in support of sustainability goals and targets, including water, waste, biodiversity and other areas not traditionally part of the G&P ESG team.
    • Assist business operations with developing emissions reduction strategies and solutions.
  • Development of Sustainability Management Systems and Communications:
    • Works with the ESG team and other stakeholders to support the development of a cohesive and documented strategy and management system for the overall ESG effort.
    • Supports development and implementation of G&P communication strategy and materials for the creation and sustainment of a Sustainability mindset within G&P.
    • Leads data gathering, calculations, writing, assembly and submittal of Corporate Sustainability Reporting information, SASB/GRI/IPIECA/TCFD data, Perspectives on Climate Change and G&P ESG related ‘stories’ for various communications.
    • Assists in monitoring the sustainability rating agencies’ assessments and benchmarking of the Company to enhance direction of business focus areas.
    • Defines data collection and analysis needs to support reporting programs. Works with ESG team members to build out and implement solutions.
    • Draft and develop trainings on sustainability topics to further ESG awareness throughout the Company.
  • Evaluation of Technology and Other Best Practices:
    • Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify new technologies and other best practices within our industry and other trends in sustainability that may be applicable to our operations.
    • Works with peers and G&P technical or operations personnel to evaluate opportunities for application to our operations.



Degree: Bachelor’s Degree desired

Major: Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Engineering             

Computer Proficiencies: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Certifications: SASB Fundamentals of Business Accounting Level 1 Credential a plus      

Work Experience: 7-10 years of relevant experience



  • Must have a strong background in sustainability issues and environmental regulations, and experience developing new programs to manage the implementation and sustainment of performance in these areas. 
  • Must be data driven with a desire for continuous improvement and challenging the status quo.
  • Prior experience with key ESG concepts and initiatives is preferred.
  • Experience in oil and gas strongly preferred.
  • Must be a strong communicator with skill in development of technical documentation or process, as well as creation of communication materials for organization wide distribution. 
  • Must be able to work in a high pressure and uncertain environment to develop strategic and tactical work product.  The ESG corporate landscape is fast paced and rapidly changing.  This role will need to be flexible and resilient as it helps drive ESG forward within G&P. Ability to assess priority of business requests and balance against existing workload is a necessity.
