Role Overview

Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a full-time Lead Mechanic position at its Covington, KY Service Center. The successful candidate will lead a team of mechanics in the maintenance of company trucks and trailers for the area fleets. There will be some travel involved for this position.

 

Responsibilities

The Lead Mechanic duties will include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Maintain inventory with Admin
  • Maintain tank test paperwork with Admin
  • Maintain DOT paperwork with Admin
  • Assist lower level tech in repairs when necessary 
  • Enforce safety protocol 
  • Assist in completion of Online training 
  • Be a role model and maintain a positive attitude
  • Review shops repair orders ensuring parts billed and labor times appropriate 
  • Triage truck/trailer repairs when necessary 
  • Work with Region Manager to assist with higher level duties
  • Be open to change and support the business unit 
  • Schedule upcoming week equipment PMs
  • Maintain 70% direct time 30% indirect time
  • Take on additional indirect tasks to help mechanics meet 85% Direct time
  • Be a motivator for the team and share our goals of maximum efficiency and lowest CPM

 

Qualifications

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Strong leadership skills. Prior leadership experience is preferred.
  • You must possess mechanical aptitude along with experience as a Master Tech. and/or completion of an accredited automotive technician program. 
  • You must hold a valid driver license and hold a CDL w/hazmat.
  • Experience with computers and diagnostic equipment is required.
  • Must have hand tools from 1/4" to 1 & 1/2" and power tools up to 1/2". The service center will provide 3/4" and up along with any specialty tools required for your duties.
  • You must possess good character, have a positive attitude, be a team player and a self-motivator with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast pace environment.
