Overview

 

The HES Professional position (located in the Columbus, OH area)  will support the environmental compliance efforts for a regional group of terminal facilities within Terminal, Transport and Rail (TT&R). As a member of the TT&R HES&S team, the Environmental Professional provides technical guidance on regulatory programs including air, water and waste.  The Environmental Professional teams with Operations personnel to ensure compliant practices.  Some duties include conducting environmental audits, providing training on environmental-related topics, evaluating project and maintenance activities, obtaining and maintaining operating permits, interacting with regulatory agencies and participating in emergency preparedness. This position will report to the TT&R-HES&S-Field Environmental North Supervisor.

 

Responsibilities

 

1. Responsible for working closely with operating personnel to provide routine environmental support services.
2. Responsible for understanding environmental regulations and corporate programs, and developing internal compliance procedures with the support of operations.
3. Preparation of air emission, water discharge, and stormwater discharge permit applications; permit negotiations; compliance monitoring and preparation of reports as well as emergency notifications.
4. Provide environmental guidance and expertise on project related activities.
5. Participation in environmental audits. Must work closely with management and operating personnel to resolve audit issues to enhance compliance.
6. Prepare and maintain environmental plans/procedures: (i.e. Stormwater Protection Plans, Groundwater Protection Plans, Start-Up, Shutdown and Malfunction Plans, etc).
7. Provide training to operating personnel on environmental topics and procedures.
8. Provide environmental support during emergency response situations. Will be on call to provide emergency reporting/support services.
9. Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies.

 

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical track (Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, etc.); environmental compliance experience is preferred. This position requires approximately 40% travel (including some overnight travel).
