POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is part of the Light Products Marketing Midwest Region located in the Chicago, IL area and reports to the Findlay Light Products Sales Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously optimize the portfolio of business by actively managing accounts, focusing on the optimal price/volume relationship for all products while executing strategic direction of the Territory.  
  • Establish responsive customer relationships, communicating critical business issues, resolving day-to-day problems and updating customers on industry issues, market conditions and MPC products, services and policies, to enhance MPC’s position as a preferred supplier.
  • Develop, negotiate, implement and manage long term contracts and non-fuel offerings to optimize value contribution.
  • Provide market intelligence to benefit internal business partners (Pricing, R&M, TT&R, LPSL, Credit, Tax) including information that impacts daily pricing decisions, competitive pricing trends, competitor outages, terminal problems, supply conditions, forecast adjustments and any other business-related items.
  • Evaluate market dynamics and niches seeking profit opportunities with new and existing customers through pricing programs, contracts, and market expansions to enhance MPC's overall corporate profitability.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of industry issues, economic conditions, business outlooks, commercial and consumer needs, and MPC competitive strengths and weaknesses by market.
  • Consider creditworthiness and MPC profitability potential when soliciting prospective new business.  
  • Keep abreast of Federal, State and local government regulations (taxes, environmental mandates, and regulatory requirements) that affect MPC and its customers.
  • Actively participate in industry associations and conferences.   
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical conduct, professional standards and practices within the industry.
  • Maintain the highest level of work practices in meeting Health, Environment & Safety goals and requirements.
  • This position will experience 15-25% of overnight travel.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Marketing, Finance, or other business-related function. 
  • 3 to 10 years of experience is preferred, particularly in the Marketing or SD&P organizations.
