Overview:

As a member of the Marine HES&S team, the HES Professional will be responsible for overseeing and implementing environmental, process safety, and personal safety programs. 

 

Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for implementation and management of safety and environmental issues and programs in assigned disciplines that could include not only Safety and Environmental, but also Process Safety, Product Quality, and Coast Guard regulations.  Additional responsibilities include:

  • Optimize and maintain the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
  • Secure regulatory water permitting for not only the WWTP, but also dredging or other regulated areas as needed.
  • Manage and improve existing compliance programs and safety management systems including, but not limited to: Coast Guard Subpart M regulations, Responsible Carrier Program (RCP), Tanker Management and Self-Assessment (TMSA), and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC).
  • Provide safety and environmental support to the Tankerman Services Group (TSG), which conducts barge transfers in several states, while driving continuous improvement of safety and environmental support.
  • Develop, reviews, and revises applicable plans, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Prepare required regulatory reports in areas of responsibility.
  • Provide compliance assistance to other departments within Marine both locally and throughout the entire multi-state operation.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions as requested.
  • Lead and participate in HES field audits and develop corrective actions as required.
  • Provides on-call HES&S duty for Marine as part of a department rotation.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Conduct face-to-face training for groups of various size and background.
  • Act as a member of the Tier II Incident Management Team.

 

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
