SUMMARY:  Reports to the Engineering Manager for developing, implementing, and managing capital projects. Develops and adheres to project budgets and schedules. This position will provide technical support, leadership, and oversight for large capital projects, including processing facilities, pipelines, and/or compressor station projects. Performs all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and government requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to safely and effectively manage projects of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to start-up.
• Must be able to develop project scopes, estimate project costs, and prepare funding requests for projects on existing facilities
• Must be proficient in developing project budgets and controlling costs.
• Must be able to prepare and execute contracts
• Must be able to prepare bid requests and evaluate such based on sound engineering and business principles
• Must maintain knowledge and ability to apply engineering standards as they relate to the specific project
• Must be able to handle assignments and projects with minimal supervision and complete within acceptable time standards
• Must be capable of providing equipment specifications per MarkWest standards and order appropriate materials for projects
• Must have broad knowledge of natural gas processing and operations
• Must demonstrate excellent communication skills to keep all interested parties aware of the project status and incorporate multiple opinions into a single scope for execution

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a degree in Engineering from a 4 year accredited college or university with 5-10 years experience in the natural gas industry. Current valid driver's license required. A Professional Engineering License is preferred.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of individuals/employees is required. Communication skills will carry a heavy emphasis.

WORKING CONDITONS: Physical Demands: Requires sitting throughout most of the day, interspersed with trips to the construction sites as needed. Walking on uneven terrain is often required during normal work duties.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions, which could range from extreme cold to hot, humid conditions. At all times proper PPE must be used in work areas.
