Summary

 

Provides corrosion and metallurgical/materials engineering expertise and support to refineries.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provides corrosion engineering support for refinery operations in support of fixed equipment mechanical integrity programs.  Includes degradation mechanism determinations and establishment of appropriate process controls to mitigate corrosion effectively in process unit equipment and piping. 
  • Develop and recommend of effective inspection strategies to effectively mitigate degradation mechanisms in fixed equipment in accordance with good engineering and RBI practices.
  • Maintains engineering standards related to fixed equipment fabrication and materials selection for refining facilities as assigned.  
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of welding procedures and practices for fixed equipment fabrication and repair.
  • Provides technical support for major capital projects including materials selection, specification selection, review of contractor specification and fabrication procedures reviews.
  • Maintains Corporation Approved Manufacturer’s Lists (AML) for materials and fabricators applicable to fixed equipment assets.  Conducts technical review and audits to support AML listings.  Develops and maintains AML standards and review procedures.
  • Provides technical support for fixed equipment inspection analyses and repair and replacement consideration in support of turnaround or routine maintenance activities.
  • Conduct failure analyses and participate in incident investigations related to fixed equipment as assigned.

 

Experience and Education

 

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years refinery or petrochemical maintenance or turnaround experience required with preference for previous supervisory, project or construction management experience.

 

**This position is part of an Engineering Technical Ladder with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications. **
