Overview:

Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s Ohio Refining Division has a vacancy for an Mechanical Area Team Engineer in the Engineering Department.

 

The successful candidate will provide project leadership and provide mechanical/civil engineering support to the assigned area team and coordinate the completion of the area team’s engineering requests.  Additionally, the area engineer will manage, and support capital and expense projects as required. The Area Engineer will also fulfill all departmental requirements.

 

Guidelines of duties and responsibilities include the following as well as other duties as assigned:

  • Recommend mechanical and civil engineering area improvements by answering questions, communicating issues, and managing area projects as the subject matter expert for assigned area team.
  • Manage small and medium projects and deliverables in adherence to MPC and industry standards.  Includes development of DSPs with associated project benefits and justification.
  • Coordinate the Engineering effort and acting as liaison between the Area Team and other departments
  • Provide Maintenance support for various tasks in the field such as in-service welds, hot taps, stopples, clamps and excavation permits.
  • Attend and actively participate in Area MOC and Team Meetings and unit HAZOP reviews.
  • Develop and manage engineering controls to remedy safety and environmental items
  • Prepare budgets, manage cost estimates, and provide updated forecasts for capital and expense projects.
  • Update Engineering controlled-documentation and champions the process safety initiative within the Area Team.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution required.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years post degree engineering experience is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong MS Office skills, report writing experience, and interfacing with different functional departments
  • Highly organized with demonstrated ability to conduct research and write effectively. The ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with individuals at all levels

 

Computer Proficiencies:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Working knowledge in using MicroStation & EcoSys is preferred.
