SUMMARY: The Supply Chain Supervisor is responsible for leading the Purchasing and Logistics functions in the Gathering and Processing East Business unit. Supply Chain supports active construction for processing plants, compressor stations, and pipeline as well as providing continuous support for Operations as it relates to procurement activities. Performs all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and governmental requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages a team of Supply Chain professionals that support all purchasing activities
- Value Creation – Actively seek and identify opportunities for value creation (cost savings, cost avoidance, revenue enhancement) and risk reduction. Manage assigned business unit region to optimize the supply base and deliver financial benefit.
- Business Partner Engagement – Works with the supported business unit to assess all requirements and develop sourcing and contracting strategies for goods and services
- Support development and establishment of strategic sourcing agreements
- Evaluate and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships to drive material availability and cost savings
- Ability to negotiate with contractors and manufacturers to ensure that Marathon is utilizing vendors with the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Leads efforts with respect to negotiation of contract deviations and change notices, and ensure adherence to contractual requirements
- Ensures team is Adhering to company policies and procedures
- Establishing regional guidelines to mitigate risks and optimize costs
- Support development and coordination of contractor/vendor qualification database
- Lead efforts in sourcing/bidding materials, equipment, and services (in support of Company Purchasing).
- Identify opportunities for growing the use of Blanket Purchase Orders.
- Review industry conditions to provide insight to the business on lead times and pricing trends
- Maintain compliance with all internal controls and actively suggest modifications to continue to improve the internal control environment.
- Leading and motivating direct reports to accomplish cost savings and implement raw materials strategies
- Develop cross training plans to ensure coverage for all business areas.
- The ability to work well with people at various organizational levels and demonstrated leadership ability are needed
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills for frequent contact with suppliers, the technical community and within Marathon at both technical and leadership levels are essential
- Technical skillsets: Understanding/Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office
EDUCATION AND EXPERIEINCE
- Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or Supply Chain. An MBA is preferred.
- The position requires 10 years of Supply Chain experience in the natural gas industry or industrial construction field with 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Current valid driver’s license required.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all level of individuals/employees is required.
- Communication skills will carry a heavy emphasis.
- Functional knowledge of Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project are preferred.
